A hidden gem among Bhutan’s trekking routes, this adventure leads you to Nub Tshona Pata Lake, nestled deep in the Himalayas, surrounded by dramatic cliffs and sacred monasteries.

Beautiful and relatively unexplored trek, as few venture into this region.

Highlights of the trek include the rich local lore, the turquoise-colored Nub Tshonapata Lake, and the verdant, pristine forests.

The trail winds through invigorating forests of rhododendron and juniper, and crosses spectacular passes reaching elevations as high as 4,350 meters above sea level.

Tour itinerary

During your flight to Paro, you will have the opportunity to marvel at some of the world's highest peaks, including Mt. Everest, Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Jomolhari, Jichu Drakey, and Tserim Gang. Upon arrival in Paro, you will be greeted by our representative, who will accompany you throughout your stay in Bhutan.

After some refreshments, your visit will begin with the National Museum. This museum features beautiful displays that showcase the rich cultural and natural history of Bhutan, offering an excellent introduction to the country and its unique heritage.

Next, we will visit the Paro Rimpong Dzong. These structures, known as dzongs, are among the most distinct and important buildings in Bhutan, serving as the offices for district administration and residences for monks.

After exploring the dzong, we will hike down to the wooden bridge and enjoy some free time in the town. Overnight at the hotel 

Altitude: 2300m 

Trekking to the revered Taktsang Monastery is a must-do activity for all visitors to Bhutan. This ancient monastery, founded by Guru Rinpoche, clings dramatically to a cliffside, offering breathtaking views of the Paro Valley. The ascent takes about four hours and passes through a stunning landscape of waterfalls, meditation caves, prayer wheels, and colorful flags—perfect for photography.

After exploring the temple complex, enjoy lunch at a teahouse while taking in the magnificent scenery. The hike back down to the valley takes around 45 minutes, providing further opportunities to appreciate the natural beauty of the surroundings. Upon arrival, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest temples in Bhutan. Overnight at the hotel 

Altitude : 3150m, Distance :7km Trek : 5hrs, Ascent : 600m, Descend :600m 

Drive to Ha, crossing over the Chela pass at 3988m with a stop to visit Dzongdrakha village, which overlooks the Paro valley. The village is situated on a cliff face and has several temples and monasteries that offer a glimpse into the local culture and religious practices. A hike to Kila Gompa monastery, which consists of about 30 nuns, is a must-do activity in this area. The hike will take you through scenic routes, where you will witness a lot of yaks grazing and enjoying the natural beauty of the region. The view from the Chela pass, which you will reach after the hike, is truly breathtaking, offering stunning panoramic views of the Himalayas.

Once you arrive in Haa, you will visit two of the oldest temples in Bhutan, Lhakhang Karp and Lhakhang Nap. These temples hold significant historical and religious importance and offer a glimpse into the Bhutanese way of life. In the evening, you can stroll around the town, interacting with the locals and experiencing the local culture and hospitality. Overnight hotel 

Altitude: 3988m, Distance :60km, Drive : 2hrs 

Your trek begins with a gentle climb to Talela Pass at 3,780 meters, passing through a dense forest of rhododendrons and conifers. You will continue with a gradual ascent to a yak herders' camp at Tshojo. From there, climb further to Gochula Pass, which stands at 4,200 meters. After crossing this pass, follow the trail along a ridge before gradually descending to our camp at Womji. Overnight camp 

Altitude : 2870m, Distance :14km Trek : 5hrs, Ascent : 230m, Descend :60m 

Begin your trek with a steep climb through juniper and rhododendron forests to Gochhila Pass at 4,350 meters, where you'll be rewarded with spectacular views of the entire Tshejala Range. Continue your walk towards Tshejalum, passing several yak herders’ camps. In spring, the trail is adorned with wildflowers. From there, proceed towards Tshejala Pass, crossing the ancient trade route that once connected Haa to Tibet. The camp will be near the Tshona pata lake. Overnight camp 

Altitude : 3750m, Distance :22km Trek : 7hrs, Ascent : 690m

Spend the day enjoying the area around this sacred lake. You can visit the yak herders' camp, observe golden trout, or explore the surrounding hillsides. Overnight camp 

Altitude: 3750m 

We will take the same path back to Gochhila Pass. From there, take a different route over a ridge to Lake Tsojo at 3,780 meters. Enjoy a picnic lunch on the lake shore. After lunch, descend to the camp situated in a yak meadow at Tsojo. Overnight camp 

 Distance :18km Trek : 5hrs, Ascent : 8550m

The trail descends gradually through juniper and rhododendron forests until you reach Talila Pass. After crossing the pass, you will re-enter the Haa Valley. Your trek concludes here, and you will be driven to Paro for overnight. Overnight at the hotel 

Altitude : 2300m, Distance :10km Trek : 4hrs, Ascent : 660m, Descend :660m
