Tour itinerary

Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be warmly received by your guide and driver.

Transfer to Thimphu (1.5 hrs) through a scenic drive along the Paro River and later, the Wang Chhu River.

In the afternoon, enjoy a short warm-up cycling ride along the riverside cycling path of Thimphu, covering approximately 10-15 km. Optional stops at the Weekend Market or local cafes. Overnight in a hotel in Thimphu.

After breakfast, gear up for a moderate cycling journey to Tango Monastery, located about 12 km from the city.

The ride ascends gently along the forested trail; park the bikes at the trailhead and hike 2 hours to the monastery. Explore the monastery, interact with monks, and learn about monastic education. Return to Thimphu for lunch and afternoon visits to:

Buddha Dordenma (massive seated Buddha statue offering panoramic views)

Memorial Chorten

Folk Heritage Museum or Institute for Zorig Chusum (13 Traditional Arts)

Towards the evening, Yoga session for an hour at the hotel 

Overnight in Thimphu.

Depart for Punakha in the morning, stopping at Dochula Pass (3,100m) for a short walk among the 108 stupas and panoramic Himalayan views.

Continue descending into subtropical Punakha Valley.

Visit the architectural masterpiece Punakha Dzong, located at the confluence of the Mo Chhu and Po Chhu rivers.

In the afternoon, enjoy a cycling tour of Punakha Valley: pass by villages, rice terraces, and chorten fields (~20 km route). Overnight in a riverside hotel in Punakha.

Begin the day with a hike (2 hrs) through rice fields and forest to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, offering panoramic views of the valley. In the afternoon, embark on a white-water rafting adventure on the Mo Chhu River (approx. 1 hour, Class II-III rapids). In the evening, hike to Chimi Lhakhang. Optional visit to a local farmhouse for tea. Overnight in Punakha.

Depart for Phobjikha (2 hrs), ascending through the forests of oak and rhododendron.

Arrive in the glacial valley of Phobjikha, one of the most scenic and ecologically significant areas in Bhutan.

Afternoon, visit the Gangtey Monastery, seat of the Nyingmapa school of Buddhism and 

 hike along the Gangtey Nature Trail through pine forests and traditional villages.

Overnight in Phobjikha

Explore the Phobjikha Valley on a mountain biking excursion passing through yak herder camps, remote schools, and sacred wetlands.

Visit Crane Information Centre to learn about the endangered black-necked cranes (seasonal).

Afternoon village walk and interaction with local farmers. Overnight in Phobjikha.

Drive cross Dochula Pass and head towards the stunning, remote valley of Haa and following the valley floor, providing breathtaking views as you begin a gradual ascent towards the Haa Chhu, passing through traditional hamlets. A stop is planned to admire Dobji Dzong, a small fortress perched above the deep valley.

Upon arrival in Haa, visit the ancient Lhakhang Karpo and Lhakhang Nagpo temples, two of the valley's most significant landmarks. In the evening, enjoy a short stroll through the charming village of Ha Katso, followed by an exploration of the town itself. Overnight in Haa.

Early morning hike to Meri Puensum (Three Sacred Hills). This moderate hike (5-6 hrs round trip) begins in Dumchoe village and passes Lhakhang Karpo.

The trail offers lush forest, streams, wooden bridges, and culminates at a ridge (3,770m) with panoramic views of Haa Valley and surrounding peaks.

Descend to town and enjoy an archery session with locals using traditional bamboo bows.

Overnight in Haa.

For the adventurous: bike ascent to Chele La Pass (~20 km, steep, optional vehicle support).

Thrilling downhill ride into Paro Valley (35 km).

Afternoon visits:

Paro Rinpung Dzong

National Museum housed in the ancient Ta Dzong

Overnight in Paro.

Early morning hike to Taktsang Monastery (5 hrs round trip), the iconic cliffside temple founded by Guru Rinpoche.

Stop for lunch at the viewpoint teahouse with dramatic views.

Descend and return to Paro and explore the town. Evening, farmhouse for dinner and for hot stone bath and Ara (Local alcohol). Overnight hotel in Paro
