Tour itinerary

During your flight to Paro, you will have the opportunity to marvel at some of the world's highest peaks, including Mt. Everest, Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Jomolhari, Jichu Drakey, and Tserim Gang. Upon arrival in Paro, you will be greeted by our representative, who will accompany you throughout your stay in Bhutan.

After some refreshments, your visit will begin with the National Museum. This museum features beautiful displays that showcase the rich cultural and natural history of Bhutan, offering an excellent introduction to the country and its unique heritage.

Next, we will visit the Paro Rimpong Dzong. These structures, known as dzongs, are among the most distinct and important buildings in Bhutan, serving as the offices for district administration and residences for monks.

After exploring the dzong, we will hike down to the wooden bridge and enjoy some free time in the town. Overnight at the hotel

En route to Thimphu, we will stop at Tachhogang and hike across the 14th-century suspension bridge to reach the Tachhogang temple on the hilltop. Continuing to Thimphu, in the afternoon, we will visit the Buddha Dordenma statue overlooking the Thimphu valley and take some time to meditate inside the temple.

Next, we will head to the Memorial Chorten, where we will circumambulate the chorten built in memory of the 3rd king. From there, we will visit the Changlimithang Ground to witness an archery match, the national sport of Bhutan.

In the late afternoon, we will take a quiet hike to Wangditse Temple, which overlooks the Tashichho Dzong. Towards the evening, we will visit Tashichho Dzong, the summer residence of the central monastic body. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Altitude: 2300m, Drive: 1h20, Distance: 50km

In the morning, drive to Pangrizampa for a consultation with an astrologer, followed by a visit to the weekend market.

In the afternoon, embark on a 2-hour hike to Dodeydra Monastery, offering beautiful views of the Thimphu valley. Upon arrival, we will visit the temples and spend some time meditating in one of them. In the evening, we will join the monks for the evening ceremony.

Overnight stay at the monastery.

Altitude: 2300m, Drive: 40min, Distance: 10km

In the morning, join the monks for the morning ceremony, followed by breakfast at the monastery. Afterward, we will hike back to Thimphu and continue our drive to Punakha.

En route, we’ll stop at Dochula Pass to take photos and walk around the 108 Druk Wangyel Chortens, built to honor the stability and progress brought to Bhutan by His Majesty Jigme Singye Wangchuck, the Fourth King. These stupas are emblematic of Bhutanese spiritual and artistic traditions.

As you descend from the pass, you’ll notice a dramatic change in vegetation. In the lower elevations of Punakha and Wangdue, the landscape transforms into a semi-tropical paradise with cacti, banana plants, poinsettias, and other exotic flora. We will then continue our drive to Punakha and visit Punakha Dzong. Built in 1637 at the confluence of the Po Chu (Male River) and Mo Chu (Female River), this fortress monastery serves as the winter residence of Bhutan’s spiritual leader, the Je Khenpo (Head Abbot), and the central Monk Body, which includes over 350 monks.

On the way back to the hotel, we’ll stop at Lobesa and take a short hike to Chhi-med Lhakhang, also known as the "No Dogs" Temple. This temple is dedicated to Bhutan’s revered Saint, Lama Drukpa Kuenley, often called the "Divine Madman." Overnight at the hotel.

Altitude: 1200m, Drive: 2hrs, Distance: 75km

On the way to Gangtey and Phobjikha, visit Wangdue Phodrang Dzong, which has been rebuilt to its original grandeur after the fire in 2012. After Wangdue, the road winds through deep valleys and remote villages, passing through Nobding village and towards the Black Mountain ranges. Before reaching Pele La Pass, we will drive towards Lawo La (3,420 meters) and then descend towards Gangtey village and the Gangtey Gompa Monastery. Built in the 17th century, Gangtey Monastery is considered the largest Nyingma school in western Bhutan.

After exploring Gangtey Gompa, embark on a hike to the glacial valley of Phobjikha, located at an altitude of 2,900 meters. The Phobjikha Valley is a natural wonder, renowned for its breathtaking beauty and tranquil surroundings. It is also home to the rare Black-necked Cranes, which migrate to this valley during the winter months. In the evening, attend the evening prayer with the monks. Overnight at the hotel 

Altitude: 2900m, Drive: 2hrs, Distance: 80km

In the morning, drive to Gangtey to attend the morning prayers with the monks and spend some time meditating in the monastery.

Afterward, we will continue to Paro, with a stop at Simtokha Dzong, the oldest dzong in Bhutan, which currently houses about 100 monks.

Altitude: 2300m, Drive: 5hrs, Distance: 170km

We’ll head towards Chele La Pass, situated at 3,988 meters. Along the way, we’ll visit Dzongdrakha village and its temple, as well as Kila Gompa Nunnery, located at 3,000 meters. We will spend some time meditating in the temple and interacting with the nuns. From there, we’ll enjoy a short nature hike to Chele La Pass. On clear days, you’ll be treated to panoramic views of the Himalayas. You can also walk further along the ridge for even better views of the mountains. At the pass, we will hoist prayer flags for good luck, long life, and the well-being of all sentient beings.

In the afternoon, we’ll drive back to Paro and explore the town.

Altitude: 3988m, Drive: 3hrs, Distance: 60km

Trekking to the revered Taktsang Monastery is a must-do activity for all visitors to Bhutan. This ancient monastery, founded by Guru Rinpoche, clings dramatically to a cliffside, offering breathtaking views of the Paro Valley. The ascent takes about four hours and passes through a stunning landscape of waterfalls, meditation caves, prayer wheels, and colorful flags—perfect for photography.

After exploring and meditating in  the temple, enjoy lunch at a teahouse while taking in the magnificent scenery. The hike back down to the valley takes around 45 minutes, providing further opportunities to appreciate the natural beauty of the surroundings.

Later in the day, visit a traditional Bhutanese farmhouse and experience a hot stone bath, a unique and traditional way of relaxing in Bhutan. Locals believe that the hot stone bath has therapeutic benefits and can cure various ailments.Overnight at the hotel
