Tour itinerary

During your flight to Paro, you will have the opportunity to marvel at some of the world's highest peaks, including Mt. Everest, Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Jomolhari, Jichu Drakey, and Tserim Gang. Upon arrival in Paro, you will be greeted by our representative, who will accompany you throughout your stay in Bhutan.

After some refreshments, your visit will begin with the National Museum. This museum features beautiful displays that showcase the rich cultural and natural history of Bhutan, offering an excellent introduction to the country and its unique heritage.

Next, we will visit the Paro Rimpong Dzong. These structures, known as dzongs, are among the most distinct and important buildings in Bhutan, serving as the offices for district administration and residences for monks.

After exploring the dzong, we will hike down to the wooden bridge and enjoy some free time in the town. Overnight at farmhouse  

Altitude:2300m, Drive 30min

After breakfast, you will start your journey towards Punakha with a stop at Tachhogang. Here, you can walk across the suspension bridge and hike to the temple on the hilltop. The journey will include a stop at Dochula Pass, located at 3,150 meters. The pass is adorned with 108 Druk Wangyel Chortens, traditional Bhutanese stupas symbolizing the mind of Buddha. You will have the opportunity to take stunning pictures of the Himalayan range and the surrounding valleys from the pass.

As we descend from the pass, you will notice a dramatic change in vegetation, from alpine forests to subtropical forests. This transition is one of the many fascinating natural features of Bhutan, which boasts a wide range of biodiversity.

Upon arrival in Punakha, we will visit the Punakha Dzong, also known as the Palace of Great Happiness. It is considered one of the most beautiful dzongs in Bhutan, located at the confluence of two rivers, the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu. The dzong served as the capital of Bhutan until 1955 and remains the winter residence of the Je Khenpo (Chief Abbot) and the central monastic body. Overnight at farmhouse 

Altitude: 1200m, Drive:3hrs, Distance: 140km

In the morning, we will hike to the Khamsum Yuley Namgyel Temple, perched on a hill above the Punakha Valley. On the way, we will also visit Chhimi Lhakhang Temple in Lobesa, dedicated to the divine madman Drukpa Kunley, renowned for his unorthodox teachings and unconventional methods. This temple is a popular pilgrimage site where couples come to receive blessings for fertility.Next, we will continue towards Wangdue and take a short hike to Rinchengang village, which offers a view of Wangdue Dzong and is considered one of the oldest villages in Bhutan. From there, we will visit Wangdue Phodrang Dzong, built in 1638, which was destroyed by fire in 2012 and rebuilt in 2022. The dzong now houses district offices and the residence of the monks. We will spend the night at a farmhouse in Wangdue.

Altitude: 1200m, Drive: 1hr, Distance: 40km

As you continue your journey through the deep forests and remote villages, we will head towards the Black Mountain ranges and then to Pelela Pass, situated at 3,420 meters. From there, we’ll descend towards Langthel Village, where the locals raise sheep and yaks. Along the road, you’ll catch a glimpse of Rukubji Village, nestled among fields of potatoes, barley, and mustard, depending on the season.

The next village you’ll pass through is Chendebji, known for its large white stupa, modeled after Swayambhunath in Nepal and built in the 19th century.

As you approach Trongsa, you’ll be rewarded with a magnificent view of Trongsa Dzong, which overlooks the Mangde Chhu River in the deep valley below. Upon arrival in Trongsa, visit the 17th-century Trongsa Dzong, the most strategically located fortress in Bhutan. The first two kings of Bhutan used to reside here during the winter months.

You’ll also visit Ta Dzong, a former watchtower that was converted into a museum in 2008. The museum houses about 244 artifacts used over the years by the Wangchuck dynasty. From there, we will continue towards Jakar, crossing over the Yotongla Pass at 3,425 meters and then heading to Chumey Valley. We will stop at Zungney Village to see the textiles known as Yathra, woven from yak hair and wool. We will continue to Jakar for the night. Overnight at farmhouse 

Altitude: 2500m, Drive: 6hrs, Distance: 180km

On your way to Tang, visit the famous Burning Lake, where the saint Terton Pema Lingpa discovered religious treasures. Continue towards Tang, stopping to visit Tang Rimochen Temple, named for the "Tiger’s Stripe" pattern that the large rock behind the temple resembles.

From there, stop at Metsi Zampa and take a 45-minute hike to Ugyenchholing, the former home of the most powerful governor of Trongsa in the 19th century. Today, it houses a family museum with an extensive collection of household items used during the governor's time.

In the evening, drive back to Jakar and visit Kharchung Monastery to witness the evening ceremony and observe the monks practicing metaphysics. Overnight at farmhouse 

Altitude: 2500m, Drive: 2hrs, Distance: 75km

As we retrace our journey back to Phobjikha, we will make several stops to visit any places we might have missed. After crossing Pele La Pass, we will turn right to reach Gangtey Village and its monastery. This monastery is regarded as the largest Nyingmapa monastery in the western part of Bhutan. Explore the monastery and take a hike down into the glacial valley of Phobjikha. It is also the nesting ground for the rare Black Necked Cranes in winter. In the evening, attend the monk’s ceremony at the monastery.Overnight at the farmhouse

Altitude: 2900m, Drive: 4hrs, Distance: 150km

En route to Thimphu, we will stop at Dochula and embark on a scenic hike through rhododendron and fir forests to the Lungchuzekha Temple. The hike takes approximately 3 hours, and on clear days, it offers stunning panoramic views of the Himalayas. Afterward, continue your journey to Thimphu and enjoy exploring the town at your leisure. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 8 :
Thimphu

After breakfast, visit the statue of Buddha Dordenma, which overlooks the Thimphu Valley. Then, stop at the Memorial Chorten, built in memory of the 3rd King, followed by a visit to the Painting School, where students learn 13 different arts and crafts unique to Bhutan. You can also visit Changlimithang Ground to witness an archery match, the national sport of Bhutan.

In the afternoon, drive to Sangaygang and enjoy a short, one-hour hike to Wangditse Temple. This beautiful hike offers stunning views of the Thimphu Valley. You can also stop at the zoo to see the Takin, the national animal of Bhutan. Later in the evening, visit Tashichho Dzong, the summer residence of the central monastic body. Conclude your day with a stroll around the craft market to explore some local products. Overnight at the hotel 

Altitude: 2300m, Drive: 40min, Distance: 10km

Departing from Thimphu, you will head towards the stunning high valley of Haa, a region that was only opened to tourism in 2002 and remains one of the least populated areas of Bhutan. Off the beaten path and seldom visited by tourists, local life here is still guided by the seasons and agriculture, offering an authentic and immersive experience.

The road winds through deep valleys, offering breathtaking views as you begin a long ascent along the Haa Chu, passing through numerous traditional hamlets. A stop is planned along the way to admire Dobji Dzong, a small fortress overlooking the deep valley.

Upon arrival in Haa, you will have the opportunity to visit Lhakhang Karpo and Lhakhang Nagpo, two ancient and iconic temples of the valley. In the evening, a stroll through the charming village of Ha Katso is on the agenda, before ending the day with an exploration of the town itself. Overnight at farmhouse 

Altitude: 2500m, Drive: 3hrs, Distance: 75km

Day 10 :
Ha -Paro

You will continue your journey towards the Chele La Pass, located at an altitude of 3,988 meters, and stop briefly at the pass to enjoy a breathtaking view of the surrounding snow-capped peaks before descending into the valley. You can take a short hike towards the Kila Gompa nunnery located at 3000m. There are about 30 nuns living in the nunnery. You can explore the nuns' temple and learn more about their monastic life before continuing your drive to the small village of Dzongdrakha. This village overlooks the Paro Valley and rice fields, offering an exceptional panoramic view. Overnight at farmhouse 

Altitude: 2300m, Drive: 2hrs, Distance: 75km

Trekking to the revered Taktsang Monastery is a must-do activity for all visitors to Bhutan. This ancient monastery, founded by Guru Rinpoche, clings dramatically to a cliffside, offering breathtaking views of the Paro Valley. The ascent takes about four hours and passes through a stunning landscape of waterfalls, meditation caves, prayer wheels, and colorful flags—perfect for photography.

After exploring the temple complex, enjoy lunch at a teahouse while taking in the magnificent scenery. The hike back down to the valley takes around 45 minutes, providing further opportunities to appreciate the natural beauty of the surroundings.

Later in the day, visit a traditional Bhutanese farmhouse and experience a hot stone bath, a unique and traditional way of relaxing in Bhutan. Locals believe that the hot stone bath has therapeutic benefits and can cure various ailments. You can also taste the local alcohol, "Ara," during a typical Bhutanese dinner. Overnight at farmhouse
