Tour itinerary

The flight to Bhutan offers some of the most breathtaking mountain views, including the majestic peaks of Mount Everest, Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Jomolhari, Jichu Drakey, and Tserim Gang.

Upon arrival at the airport, you will be greeted by our representative and transferred to Thimphu. On the way, there will be a stop at Tachhogang, where you can enjoy a short hike across the suspension bridge to the Tachhogang Temple perched on a hilltop. Once you arrive in Thimphu, check in at your hotel and take some time to explore the town. Overnight at hotel 

Altitude: 2300m, Drive:1h

Day 2 :
Thimphu

After breakfast, visit the statue of Buddha Dordenma, which overlooks the Thimphu Valley. Then, stop at the Memorial Chorten, built in memory of the 3rd King, followed by a visit to the Painting School, where students learn 13 different arts and crafts unique to Bhutan. You can also visit Changlimithang Ground to witness an archery match, the national sport of Bhutan.

In the afternoon, drive to Sangaygang and enjoy a short, one-hour hike to Wangditse Temple. This beautiful hike offers stunning views of the Thimphu Valley. You can also stop at the zoo to see the Takin, the national animal of Bhutan. Later in the evening, visit Tashichho Dzong, the summer residence of the central monastic body. Conclude your day with a stroll around the craft market to explore some local products. Overnight hotel 

Altitude: 2300, Drive :1h, hike 2hrs

The hike to Phajoding leads through lush, verdant terrain, abundant with colorful bushes of all shapes and sizes. The Phajoding Monastery, situated at an altitude of 2,850 meters, has a rich history marked by periods of both prosperity and poverty. Once one of the most important temples, it unfortunately ended up on the World Monuments Fund’s 2010 list of the five most endangered monuments, due to years of neglect and transformations. The monastery houses some of the oldest and most unique artifacts and antiquities. The complex is vast, consisting of several buildings and sacred relics. It also hosts a state monastic school that teaches Buddhism to young aspirants.

Thujeydra Hermitage is about a 30-minute climb from Phajoding Monastery. Nestled on the mountainside, this hermitage offers spectacular views of the surrounding countryside.

Nearby, don’t miss the hill of the sky burial, adorned with prayer flags. According to Buddhist teachings, this hill is used as a burial site for the bodies of newborns, which must not be cremated. Towards the evening, hike back to Thimphu. Overnight hotel 

Altitude:3000, hike 6hrs

En route to Punakha, visit Trashigang Goempa and embark on a hike through the beautiful forest of fir, juniper, and rhododendron to Lungchuzekha. If the weather is clear, you will enjoy panoramic views of the Himalayas from the temple. After visiting the temple, descend towards Dochula for lunch. Take a walk around the 108 stupas that adorn the beautiful Dochula Pass, situated at an altitude of 3,150 meters.

After lunch, continue your drive towards Phobjikha with a stop at Nobding Village.

As you approach Pelela Pass (3,420 meters), you will catch your first glimpse of the Black Mountain ranges, historically used as the border between eastern and western Bhutan. Just before reaching the pass, take a right turn towards the valley known for its rare and famous Black-Necked Cranes. In the evening, attend the evening prayer at the Gangtey Monastery with the monks. Overnight hotel 

Altitude: 2900m, Hike: 4hrs, Drive 4hrs

Hike from the hotel to Khewa Lhakhang and visit the small temple. Continue your hike towards Gangtey, passing through the stunning glacial valley. Once in Gangtey, explore the village and visit the monastery. Return to the hotel for lunch. In the afternoon, hike to Kilkhorthang village and visit some local farmhouses. Overnight hotel 

Altitude: 2900m, Hike 3hrs, drive 40min

Drive to Wangdue and visit Wangdue Phodrang Dzong, originally built in 1638. Although the dzong was tragically destroyed by fire in June 2012, it was reconstructed between 2014 and 2022. The dzong now serves as the district administration center and houses approximately 200 monks. And also visit Rinchengang village, considered as one of the oldest villages in Bhutan. Along the way, stop at Lobesa and take a short hike through the rice fields to Chimi Lhakhang Temple. Built in the 15th century, this temple is known as the Fertility Temple, where couples who are unable to conceive come to seek blessings for a child. Overnight 

Altitude: 1200m, Hike 2hrs, drive 2hrs

Day 7 :
Punakha

After breakfast, drive to Nobgang village and visit the village temple and small charming village. It is the birth place of our four queens. From the village, hike towards Punakha Dzong. This is a beautiful hike offering stunning views of Punakha Dzong nestled between two rivers. Upon arrival in Punakha, visit the Punakha Dzong, which is beautifully situated at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. After exploring the Dzong, take a walk to Changyul and cross Bhutan’s longest suspension bridge.

Next, head further north and walk-through rice fields to the Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Temple, which dominates the Punakha Valley. Overnight 

Altitude: 1200m, Hike 3hrs, drive 1hr

From Punakha, we will drive towards Paro and then towards Ha valley, through Chele La Pass, situated at 3,988 meters and then to beautiful Ha valley. Along the way, we'll visit Dzongdrakha village and its temple, as well as Kila Gompa Nunnery, located at 3,000 meters. From there, we’ll enjoy a short nature hike to Chele La Pass. On clear days, you'll be treated to panoramic views of the Himalayas. You can also walk further along the ridge for an even better view of the mountains.

Continue towards Ha and explore the small town of Ha towards the evening. Overnight hotel  

Altitude: 2500m, Hike 3hrs, drive 4hrs

You begin your day from Katsho School, located just a few minutes, then you take a lovely trail that was once used by Indian Prime Minister Nehru before the road was constructed. You pass through the picturesque village of Yangto and follow the Haa Chu River to Gechu Lhakhang, where you stop for a picnic. Afterwards, you descend for a few minutes to cross the Haa Chu River and take an old path to climb the opposite slope and visit the 16th-century Jamtey Gompa. You then return to your vehicle, which will take you to Paro for the night. Overnight hotel 

Altitude: 2300m, Hike 4hrs, drive 2hrs

Trekking to the revered Taktsang Monastery is a must-do activity for all visitors to Bhutan. This ancient monastery, founded by Guru Rinpoche, clings dramatically to a cliffside, offering breathtaking views of the Paro Valley. The ascent takes about four hours and passes through a stunning landscape of waterfalls, meditation caves, prayer wheels, and colorful flags—perfect for photography.

After exploring the temple complex, enjoy lunch at a teahouse while taking in the magnificent scenery. The hike back down to the valley takes around 45 minutes, providing further opportunities to appreciate the natural beauty of the surroundings.

Later in the day, visit a traditional Bhutanese farmhouse and experience a hot stone bath, a unique and traditional way of relaxing in Bhutan. Locals believe that the hot stone bath has therapeutic benefits and can cure various ailments. You can also taste the local alcohol, "Ara," during a typical Bhutanese dinner. Overnight hotel
